Our story begins like every modern love story…
Randall was laying in bed one night browsing through Hinge.
He came across a very attractive lady named Angeline who was not only physically attractive, but witty and clearly enjoys life. He decided to test his chances and tapped the heart button.
Angeline, single and free of a job, opened Hinge and saw Randall’s profile. She thought, “Looks cute, seems like a free-spirited burner, incredible skier…promising!” However, with the absence of a witty intro line, and the fact that Randall worked at Flexport (a company Angeline was preparing to interview for), this profile was an unfortunate no for her.
Fast forward a few months… this is where things get funny...
Angeline arrived for her on-site interview at Flexport, and the first session was an “Introduction to Flexport”. To her surprise, Randall appeared in the room as her interviewer! Angeline was shook, but managed to keep her composure and smiled. Randall though, “Oh this is a very attractive woman!” The interview began.
In classic Angeline fashion, she tested Randall’s knowledge by asking specific and challenging questions. In classic Randall fashion, he deflected the questions and told Angeline to save them for her other 1:1 sessions.
Angeline got the job!
Randall and Angeline immediately hit it off and became the life of the party on the Flexport Design team. One of their co-workers once mentioned that she always knew where Randall and Angeline were in the office because they were always laughing so loudly.
Angeline and Randall slowly got to know one another through team outings and work meetings, though because both were in relationships of their own, they remained cordially co-worker friends for years to come.
The pandemic hit, and Randall announced that he was leaving Flexport.
Angeline realized that she needed to do something if she wanted to go from co-worker friends to real friends with Randall. She decided to visit him and their other co-worker, Dre, in Tahoe. Now-single Randall, who hadn’t interacted with an attractive and intelligent woman in-person for months, decided to cut his pandemic hair and shave, hoping for a chance to take his friendship with Angeline to the next level. Unfortunately, she was pretty serious about the relationship she was in at the time, so they focused on being friends during the visit. The two had a blast skiing in Tahoe and discovered an undeniable chemistry...
The slow roast begins.
The April 24th party…
Angeline mentioned her upcoming birthday to Randall while visiting Tahoe. Randall hopped on the opportunity to impress Angeline by throwing her a birthday party at his (still under construction) family’s place. It was a banger, but by the end, the two parted ways as pals and Randall prepared for a big move to NYC.
New York… when things get spicy!
Randall moved to New York, and Angeline decided to spend a month there over the summer. During that month, the chemistry between the two grew incredibly strong. One night, after dinner with friends, the two went to Bossonova Nightclub in Brooklyn. By the time Angeline was moving back to the bay (4 months later than she had planned), they considered each other best friends, and decided to commemorate their friendship by getting tattoos together by the same artist. Angeline got a rabbit because of her love for the Matrix, and Randall got a snake, his zodiac animal.
Back to the bay
Angeline moved back to SF.
This was a huge relief for the two. Even though they would miss each other, they both agreed that they needed some space to live their own lives to figure out what they wanted. You might be asking yourself, “Why must they put themselves through all of this suffering?” And the answer is… well who knows…
Randall also moved back to SF!
Two life altering events occurred for Randall: he decided to open a restaurant with his sister, and at the same time, his father was diagnosed with cancer. These two made for a swift decision to move back home. At the same time, after trying to give things another shot, Angeline and her ex’s relationship finally perished.
Randall decided now was the time to reignite the fire.
However, Angeline, who was still incredibly sad from her recent break-up, asked to remain friends. Randall thought he would cheer her up by taking her out for a night of art and magnums of wine…

Oh no… We need to take you to the hospital!
Angeline broke her collarbone.
Randall took Angeline to the ER that night, then took care of her the following days as she prepared for surgery and took loads of painkillers. His care (not the meds) made her feel like she was floating on a cloud, and she realized that there really was no one else she wanted with her by her side other than her best friend.
Angeline was bedridden for weeks to come, and needed to stay at her parents’ place in Cupertino post-surgery. Randall sneakily texted Angeline’s parents behind the scenes and coordinated a surprise visit.
Randall appeared at her front door with flowers, and joined her family for dinner. This became the first of many grand and romantic gestures that secured the slow burn.
Angeline & Randall finally officially begin their relationship on Valentine’s Day of 2022!
And so, now we head into our next chapter.
The start of our relationship was full of ups and downs, but it doesn’t come close to what we’ve gone through together since. We’ve supported each other in pursuing our wildest ambitions, celebrated achievements big and small, and carried each other though the deepest grief and pain. We are excited to take on the rest of life together, hand in hand and laughing out loud!
